Description:

Keto has been a popular buzzword in the dieting community lately. Most people know someone who has tried it, someone who is on it, and someone who loves it.The mechanics can be tricky for a beginner and to some the whole idea seems impossible. Keto refers to ketosis, which is the state your body finds itself in when it begins using fat instead of sugar as fuel. The keto diet is a comprehensive plan to get a person’s body into ketosis by depriving it of foods that can create sugar. It does this by replacing those foods with fats. Some people might have trouble wrapping their heads around the idea that eating more fats can make you lose weight. It seems counterintuitive. In fact, it would be, if the person was still relying on sugars for fuel. By moving the body into ketosis, however, a person can retrain themselves to stop storing fat. The keto diet is based on a low-carb, high-fat intake. This means that a person starts to look for foods that have very little or no carbohydrates, such as leafy greens, certain vegetables, and fatty foods, such as red meats and some dairy products, to make up their diet. By making this change, a person begins transitioning their body from its normal process of breaking down food into sugars for energy to breaking fats into ketones (which will be explained later) for energy. When their bodies finally make the complete switch to this process, they are in ketosis. Ketosis is a natural metabolic process that can sometimes occur in people without their even realizing it. The word simply means that the body is now drawing on stored fat to produce energy in the absence of glucose or sugar, which it typically uses as fuel. This can happen when someone is fasting or simply hasn’t eaten for a while. This is also the reason why people are able to lose weight so quickly when they start keto. As the body begins burning through its fat reserves, the person will shed the weight that went along with them. It turns unwanted pounds into much-needed energy. This book covers: Breakfast Mains Sides Seafood Poultry Meat Vegetables Soups and stews Snacks Desserts And much more In some cases, people were able to lose three times more weight on keto than on an approved diabetes diet. Some people use keto as a way to manage to avoid certain health problems, such as heart disease and diabetes. Now, eating fats and cutting carbs usually sounds easy until a person starts examining their diet. That is usually when the classic question comes to mind: “What am I supposed to eat?” At the beginning of the diet, there will definitely be an adjustment period for learning what foods have the best fats and which have the lowest carbs but, in the beginning, it helps to use a cheat sheet. Fatty cuts of red meat, fatty fish such as tuna and salmon, skin-on chicken, and eggs are the go-to fatty protein sources in the keto diet. Dairy products such as cream, full-fat cheeses, and plain Greek yogurt are all in, as well as some nuts and seeds, certain cooking oils, and low-carb veggies.
